For our first brief, we were to come up with an idea for an awareness but not an educational video to increase your appreciation for your personal information.

Usually when you want to learn what a word means you look up the definition. So I looked up the word privacy and found:

  • A state in which one is not observed or disturbed by other people.
    • ‘she returned to the privacy of her own home’
  • The state of being free from public attention.

Isolation is a word that I thought seemed to fit in with these definitions and could provide as an interesting visual.

I decided that I wanted one of the shots to be an infinite white space to represent isolation. An alien would be there posting on social media. However, unbeknownst to him, they emit and bubble into the physical world. Soon a horde of innocent looking aliens approaches from behind glaring at the messages existing in the world for everyone to see.

He does not know they are approaching eventually they reach him and all look over his shoulder and knock a coffee out of his hand. The coffee cup is there purely to exaggerate how intrusive and irritating it is.

I decided that the tone should be quite light and slightly comedic as most videos that are on the same topic are so dull and boring.

Here is the storyboard I mocked up in illustrator:

I made up two other scenes as a continuation of the former but in a way that the narrative in that scene would make sense on its own so it could possibly be split up in four for social media.

Storybaord-02Storybaord_Artboard 3As I thought two minutes for a video might be too long, I thought it would be a good idea to create a two-minute video that could be split up into four 30 second clips too.

Here are the slides for my presentation:
